Police Arrest Notorious Criminal Terrorizing Ibusa Community In Delta, Recover Gun, Others

The Anti-Crime Patrol team attached to Ibusa Police Division, on Friday, while on routine patrol in conjunction with Ibusa Anti-Cult volunteers, arrested one Ekene Okonji ‘m’ a.k.a. “galaxy”.

A statement on Monday by the police spokesman in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, said Okonji, a notorious criminal is known for terrorizing Ibusa Community and its environs.

He continued: “Upon searching the suspect, one locally made cut-to-size short gun, seven live cartridges were recovered,” adding that “suspect is currently in custody and investigation is ongoing.”

In another development, following the restiveness in the oil producing Ugboren Community of Sapele Local Government Area, Delta State, over leadership tussle, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, PSC+ directed the DPO Sapele Division to carry out intensive raid in the Community and ensure that sanity is restored.

Consequently, on 28/5/2022 at about 1330hrs, combined teams of Policemen attached to Sapele Division and men of the Nigerian army attached to 91 battalion carried out intensive raid in the community, including their community shrine.”

“During the raid, Two FNC assault Rifles were recovered and two suspects arrested. Measures have been put in place to forestall any further breakdown of law and order,” DSP Edafe added.

Also, six suspected criminals have been arrested by the Command Raiders Operatives.

The police said the arrest was made on Saturday at about 1130a.m. while the said policemen were on investigation activities along Asaba – Benin Expressway in Okpanam.

They are said to have intercepted some hoodlums suspected to be cultists.

“The suspects on sighting the team took to their heels but the team chased them and in the process arrested six of the suspects namely; Sunday Okafor Destiny, Stephen Osamota Pius and four others. One locally made cut-to-size double barrel gun, six expended cartridges and one 9mm live ammunition were recovered. Investigation is ongoing,” DSP Edafe said in a statement.
