By Abdulmalik Suleiman
The Leader and Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso PhD, FNSE is a listening leader who has over the years priotised the welfare of the masses.
Added to this attribute is his ability to identify and yield to the yearnings of Nigerians irrespective of tribal or religious affiliations that they (Nigerians) might belong to.
Always very sensitive to the feelings of the people whom he has sworn to serve as a grassroots politician, the former Kano State governor though a stout and devoted Muslim respects the adherents of other faiths.

Compared to the fundamental mistake that has been made by the flag bearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that has shown disdain for Christians by picking a Muslim as his running mate, the former federal lawmaker has toed the line of decency and fairness by picking a popular Christian cleric, Bishop Isaac Idahosa to run with him.
The choice of Bishop Idahosa who is the presiding Bishop and the senior pastor of God First Ministry, popularly known as Illumination Assembly, Lekki Light Centre (LLC), Ajah, Lagos is indeed a wise one considering his (Idahosa’s) antecedence and clout in the Christendom and to the general public.
As a Christian, he is not just a believer of the word; he is also a very influential member of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
The Edo born but Lagos based cleric is well known not just as a priest but also as a philanthropist who has over the years utilized his God given position to enhance and uplift the people he has come across in his pastoral duties. Many also see him as a moral compass and an embodiment of credibility.
The importance and symbolism of the pick is in several folds but one would be quick to state that one major unique symbolism is that Kwankwanso’s hand of fellowship towards Idahosa is a gesture of love and respect for the teeming Christians across the country.
Kwankwaso choice of Idahosa to many was a masterstroke and a perfect combination to healed the country from the past political divisiness that has stagnated the country.
When viewed and situated properly, the ticket is that of hope for the country which is in dire need of healing occasioned by the misrule of the APC in the last seven years where the country has become divided along religious and ethnic fault lines.
In the end, Nigeria will have at the Presidency two unique personalities of the two major faiths who would enjoy the love and trust of all Nigerians as well as a leadership that would make their welfare and well being their utmost priority.
