Presidential Election: INEC Told Court That LP’s Decision To Inspect BVAS Will Expose Identities Of Voters – Ikpeazu

The lead Counsel of the Labour Party in the court case aimed at challenging the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, Onyechi Ikpeazu has revealed one of the petitions INEC took to the court as they hope to get the court to grant them access to the BVAS in other to reconfigure it for the governorship election.

According to Onyechi Ikpeazu, INEC wrote to the Appeal Court and urged the court to stop the Labour Party from reviewing the BVAS machine because such an action will reveal the identities of the voters and who the voters voted for.

Onyechi Ikpeazu disclosed that the expect the court not to pay much attention to the application of INEC because it does not make a lot of sense. Onyechi Ikpeazu went on to say that the more serious petition that came before the court from INEC was INEC’s request to the court to allow it to reconfigure the BVAS machine, knowing fully well that such an action will clean all the data in the BVAS.

Onyechi Ikpeazu noted that him and his team had already told the Appeal Court that the Labour Party does not have the intention of accessing the identities of the voters, rather, they simply want to check the details of the number of accredited voters and other relevant information that would enable them to prove that irregularities took place during the election.
