Environmental Exercise To Hold In Delta Saturday

The Delta State Government has said that the monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise for October will hold across the state on Saturday, October 28, 2023, between the hours of 7am and 10am.
Director of Public Communication in the Ministry of Information, Theresa Adiabua Oliko, said this in a statement on Friday.
According to the statement, “during the exercise, there will be restriction of vehicular and human movements, except those on essential duties,” adding that “residents are advised to clean up their immediate surroundings, de-silt drains and ensure proper disposal of waste as well as fumigate their premises.”
Continuing, the statement said that the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Jamani Tommy Ejiro; the Permanent Secretary, staff of the ministry and other relevant authorities would monitor the clean- up exercise.

The statement added that officials of the Delta State Waste Management Board, Local Government councils and other relevant authorities would evacuate the resultant refuse to approved dump sites in the state.
It warned that those found not taking part in the exercise would be brought before mobile magistrate courts and prosecuted accordingly.
