Family Blessed With Quadruplets After 12 Years Of Childlessness Seeks Help To Pay Hospital Bills Of N4M In Warri

Comr.(Amb.) Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen, National Coordinator, “No Justice, No Peace Initiative”, has appealed to the Delta State Government and the public to come to the aid of a family that gave birth to quadruplets after twelve years of childlessness, saying that the family was unable to pay their hospital bill running into millions of naira.

In an open letter on Wednesday tagged: ‘A Call for Urgent Help!’, he added: “it is necessary that I bring to the notice of the public the plight of a dedicated Christian family.”

While thanking God for blessing the family with quadruplets after twelve years of childlessness and mockery, he said that “despite this exhilarating news, every concerned individual is hugely worried about the plights of the Omodiagbes, as, since after the birth of their children, their very existence is threatened, as it concerns the basic fundamental human rights.”

He continued: “The Omodiagbes might not have expected quadruplets, and despite the babies’ arrival being a source of relief and glee, the family are currently financially incapacitated as they do not have money to pay the hospitals bills. They are in urgent need of financial assistance from the public. It is a very critical situation.”

According to him, “they urgently need the sum of N4, 000, 050.00 as they have been able to pay N1, 598, 000.00 of the actual N5, 598, 050.00 needed to foot the bills.”

Explaining further, he said: “The clear picture is that the quadruplets were put in an incubator, and the service costs N20,000.00 per child for a day, making it N80,000.00 for the four of them. They were put in the incubator on October 21, 2023; and they had been there until some days ago when three were brought out, leaving the fourth one there. Kindly, note that this is beside the cost of delivery and treatment of the mother as she delivered through a Cesarean section. The hospital is Coastal Specialist Clinic, 39, 19th Street, Bendel Estate, Warri, Delta State.”

He noted that “the doctors and other workers at the hospital have been very considerate as they have not evinced any traits of inhumanity to the family,” saying that “this show of humaneness by the hospital management does not in any way mean that their charges should not be paid promptly.”

Meanwhile, he disclosed that the Omodiagbes are dedicated members of the Living Faith Church, AKA Winners Chapel, Water Resources, Effurun, Delta State and thenmother of the babies, Mrs Gladys Omodiagbe happens to be a cell fellowship leader;” just as he wondered why Bishop Bishop David Olaniyi Oyedepo and wife, Pst. Faith Abiola Oyedepo is not aware of their plight.

He wrote further: “Mrs. Gladys Okodo Omodiagbe hails from Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State while her husband, Mr. Amos Omodiagbe hails from Edo State but has lived in Delta State for more than ten years, hence cannot be denied benefits or stipends for such cases by the Delta State Government.”

“To provide/care for a child comes with a torrent of financial, physical and emotional challenges, let alone, caring for twins, triplets, quadruplets or more,” he said.

Furthermore, he said that moved by their plight, he is joining his voice with that of the Omodiagbes to call on the Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, through the office of the First Lady, Tobore Oborevwori, the Commissioner for Health; Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, the Commissioner for the Girl Child Entrepreneurship and Humanitarian Support Services; Miss Orode Uduaghan, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, NGOs, churches, philanthropists, and well-meaning Nigerians to, please, come to the aid of the family.

“I crave everyone to be responsive to the agony of the family by supporting to provide childcare support for a period of time,” he concluded.
