DELSU SUG Presents N1M To Best Graduating Student At 17th Convocation

At the 17th Convocation Ceremony of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, the Student Union Government (SUG) President, Comrade Augustine Onovughegor, made headlines by awarding a ₦1 million cash prize to the institution’s best graduating student, Miss Okwa Favour Oghenemine, who graduated with a First class honours in Mathematics.
The presentation, which took place during the convocation ceremony, was met with enthusiastic applause from attendees, including dignitaries, faculty members, students, and families.
Speaking at the event, Comr. Onovughegor emphasized the importance of recognizing academic excellence, stating that the reward was intended to both honor outstanding performance and encourage others to aspire to similar achievements.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to celebrating merit and motivating students to pursue excellence in their academic journey,” he said.
The best graduating student with a CGPA of 4.95, overwhelmed with joy, thanked the SUG President and the university community for the recognition, promising to continue to uphold the university’s values beyond graduation.
University officials lauded the initiative, describing it as a commendable demonstration of impactful student leadership.
