Baptist Medical Centre Secondary School Holds 2018 Sports Competition

Baptist Medical Centre Secondary School, Eku, has successfully held her 2018 inter-house athletics sports competition.
The programme which held at the School of Nursing playground, Eku, recently, had a total of six houses competing.
Speaking at the occasion, the principal, Mrs. Beauty Okparah noted that sports is a veritable tool for unity, cohesion, integration and friendship, adding that it serves as a bridge builder.
“Apart from the health benefits of sports, the Ministry of Education uses the interhouse-sports competition to catch talents young,” she said.
Continuing, she disclosed that for the first time since the inception of the school in 2000, the school has just been accredited to be a WAEC centre.
The prinicpal also commended the lawmaker representing the constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief (Hon.) Evance Ivwurie, for donating a block of classrooms, saying that a new block of classrooms as intervention from the European Union, courtesy of Engineer Monday Otitigbe is ongoing at jet speed.
She urged guests to help in meeting the needs of the school by providing specialized laboratories, library, Home Economics lab and Computer lab.
Results announced by the organisers saw White House clinching the 1st position with a total of 194 points, as Yellow and Blue houses came 2nd and 3rd with 187 and 179 points respectively.
Results for the invitation relay had Okurekpo Secondary School, Umiaghwa Secondary School and Igun Secondary School clinching the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions for the female category, while Anglican Grammar School, Igun Secondary School and Umiaghwa Secondary School emerged 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the female category.
Dignitaries present at the progamme include Chief Benard Edewor, leader, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ethiope East Local Government Area; Mrs. Tiitilayo Ukueku, representing the Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Joseph Ukueku JP; Comrade Isaac Adu, Chairman, National Union of Teachers, NUT, Ethiope East Chapter; Chief Joseph Ogbemudia, Chairman, Parents Teachers Assoiciation, also the President General of Eku Progress Union and Chief (Hon.) Frederick Adu.
