Akpowowo Urges Support For Pioneer Sapele Area Commander
The Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Waterways and Land Security Committee, Okakuro Barrister Arthur Akpowowo, has called on residents in Sapele Area Command to support the pioneer Area Commander, ACP Mamman Sale Rijau and the police in the area to enhance the effective policing of the area.
Speaking to journalists during the inauguration of the executive of Police Committee Relations Committee, PCRC, at Sapele, the governor’s aide urged the police in the command to continue in their good works, adding that residents in the 7 divisions that make up the command should provide needed information to security operatives geared towards curbing crime and criminality.
He continued: “The Area Commander has been around this area for a while. He has shown that he is a refined police officer and one to be emulated,” saying that he was inspired by the Area Commander’s decision to hand a cash gift of N50, 000 presented to him by Chief Felix Anirah to PCRC.
He called on other police officers to emulate the Area Commander so that Nigerians can have confidence in them.
Continuing, he opined that such progammes, when stakeholders in security matters come together to discuss the way forward should be held monthly in order to create a stronger bond between the people and the police and improve on the security of the area.
To Deltans, he called on them to be security conscious and always report strange movements in their area to the police, their traditional heads, vigilante operatives or youth leaders, just like it is done abroad.
