Chief Odet Emo Bags Honorary Doctorate Degree

The Senior Special Adviser (SSA) to the Delta State Governor, and State Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, Chief Odet Emo JP, has been conferred with an honorary doctorate degree by a renowned tertiary institution, Rescue Mission Theological University, Georgia.
This event, which took place at the residence of the recipient in Warri, had Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Evelyn Ohwojeheri JP, the executive and members of Edirin Social Club, Warri, PCRC members, family members, friends and well-wishers in attendance.
Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Stephen Greg, the African Director of the institution, said that Chief Odet was nominated alongside others that were honoured during the school’s convocation recently, noting that they were in Warri to carry out the investiture since she was unavoidably absent at the occasion.
According to him, she was long overdue for the honour due to her uncommon contributions in the areas of philanthropy and humanitarian services, among others.
He described the PCRC boss as a humanitarian, philanthropist, mother to the motherless and a helping hand to the needy, adding that the honour done her was a call to her to do more and an acknowledgement of her noble deeds which her profile attests to.
To the recipient, he said: “An honorary doctorate means thank you, well done and do more. This honour means that you have been admitted into the college of doctors in Rescue Mission Theological University and in the Faculty of Humanities.”
Responding to the gesture by the institution, Dr. Odet thanked the management of the University for considering her for the honour, adding that she is yet to find out how she was chosen for the award.
She said: “I am glad that because of my services to humanity they deemed it fit to honour me.
The PCRC boss promised to continue to do the things that earned her the award, noting that many persons consider those involved in humanitarian services as wasting time and resources
On her part, the President of Edirin Social Club, Lady Veronica Obakponovwe, expressed gratitude to the university, saying that she was overwhelmed with joy when she learnt of the arrangement to honour one of the club’s members.
“I am aware that there are academic doctors and also honorary doctorate degrees for humanitarian services. This decision to honour her is a good one and this is just the beginning of good things to come to our club.”
Members of the institution present at the investiture included the Canadian Ambassador of the school, HRM Albert Calvin Heartman and a member of the institution’s senate, Dr. Godwin Royal.
