Delta APGA Crisis: Disciplinary Committee Recommends Sack For Suspended Chairman, Afamefune

Following the alleged suspension of the Delta State Chairman, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Afamefune Enemokwu, over gross misconduct by the leadership of the party, a Displinary Committee set up to investigate the allegations has recommended removal from office.
The leadership of the party, had on March 27, 2018, at Ozoro, headquarters of Isoko North Local Government Area of the state, during an enlarged meeting of the party, suspended Afamefune Enemokwu, over gross misconduct and other related offenses.
A seven man Disciplinary Committee headed by Mrs. Nwabueze Amechi, and six other members was inaugurated by the leadership of the party to investigate the offenses that led to the suspension of Afamefune.
The allegations included “That the suspended state chairman failed to account for N40, 000 meant for sign posts at Asaba Secretariat of the party; that the suspended chairman failed to account for N500, 000 meant for office rent at the Asaba Secretariat; that the suspended state chairman collected nomination fee in firm of cash from some candidates and as such cash payments are not reflected in the party’s account;
” That the suspended state chairman locked the Asaba secretariat of the party for over a month to prevent the Independent National Electoral Commission from carrying out verification of the office and officers of the party; that the suspended chairman has unable to account for millions of naira of party funds obtained by donations and loans since 2015 among others”
The committee, in its submission signed by the the chairman, Mrs. Nwabueze Amechi and secretary, Mr. Okoh McCarthy of the committee, recommended that the state suspended chairman be sacked from office.
The 12 page report of the Disciplinary Committee of APGA read in part : ” Having examined all the facts before it, the Disciplinary Committee hereby uphold the indefinite suspension of Mr. Afamefune Enemokwu, as state chairman.
” The disciplinary committee hereby, without dissent invoke article 22 section 4 (v) of the APGA constitution and recommend his removal from office. The disciplinary committee hereby appeal to the State Executive Committee (SEC) and national leadership of the party to accelerate the process of Enemokwu’s removal from office and immediately move to resolve the lingering crisis in the party by reconciling all aggrieved members.”
” The party leaders should stop imposition of unpopular candidates as party chairmen against the popular candidates. Committee noted that the imposition of Mr. Afamefune in 2015 was a big mistake which should not repeat itself. Committee recommended that the leadership of the party in the state and national level move swiftly to punish officers who have mismanaged or embezzled funds so as to save the party from embarrassment of police and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
It called on the State Executive Committee (SEC) and the national leadership of the party to, as a matter of urgency, return the Delta State chapter of APGA to the path of constitutionality and good governance.
