Delta South: Group Endorses Michael Johnny for Senate

…insist Ijaws Must Produce Lawmaker Again

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, a political pressure group under the auspices of Delta South Political Pathfinders, DSP, today endorsed a Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, High Chief Michael Johnny for the Delta South Senatorial Seat, insisting that the Ijaw Ethnic Nationality will produce the next lawmaker again with incumbent, Sen. James Manager, an Ijaw man on the seat under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
The group also urged the immediate past Chairman of Egbema Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation, EGCDF, to publicly make a formal declaration for the Senate under the APC platform.
While High Chief Michael Johnny who is from Gbaramatu Kingdom is yet to make his intentions known, the group in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Newwold Bralade, said: “We have endorsed Chief Micheal Johnny as our preferred candidate for the Senate to represent Delta South Senatorial District, come 2019. We are urging him to publicly declare for the Senate under the ruling party of All Progressives Congress APC.”
The group stated that they endorsed High Chief Michael Johnny for Senate as a result of his remarkable achievements as well as his transparent four years leadership as Chairman of EGCDF.
The group said, “as a member of Delta State Waterways Security where he served diligently, it is an attestation that he is capable, reliable and can be entrusted with greater responsibility to serve the people of Delta South at the Senate.”
According to the group, “The Ijaws will still produce the Senator for Delta South in 2019; it is not negotiable.”
The group further urged all Ijaws in Delta South to support the Senatorial aspirations of High Chief Micheal Johnny stressing, “we have done a thorough investigation on his tenure as former Chairman of EGCDF and discovered that Johnny was the first former Chairman of EGCDF whose account was audited and given a clean bill of health by Chevron Nigeria Limited.”
With the endorsement, High Chief Michael Johnny will have to contend strongly with whoever wins the “primary ticket” of the PDP.
As we speak, incumbent Sen. James Manager, the member representing the people of Warri North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Michael Diden a.k.a, Ejele and former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan are seriously scheming for who gets the PDP ticket.
In Delta South Senatorial District, there are the Itsekiris, Isokos aside the Ijaws with the Warri Urhobos.
It is on record that the Isokos and the Ijaws except for the Warri Urhobos who are allegedly being marginalized, have had the shot at the Senate.
