Kidnap: Police Recovers Corpse Of Former Ethiope East Councillor

–Notorious Kidnappers From Eku, Okurekpo, Oviorie in Police Net
The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Delta State Police Command, has recovered the corpse of Hon. Onose Onakpoma, a former Councillor in Ethiope East Local Government Area, who was kidnapped and shot dead recently by a notorious group of kidnappers operating in the locality.
The Omote Eboh, a kidnap-for-ransom network in the thick forest between Okurekpo and Okuekpagha boundary (Omue’ te’te) carried out a major robbery operation on the 31st March, 2018, where they robbed over 20 people including Hon. Onose Onakpoma and thereafter kidnapped him and hauled him to the thick forest where he was promptly killed while trying to escape before the kidnappers called to pick up a ransom of N500,000.
Confessions made showed that the said kidnappers absconded with the said sum, leaving no trace of Hon. Onakpoma.
But, with the resolute commitment of the Governor of Delta State, HE Senator Dr Arthur Ifeanyichukwu Okowa, Hon Evance Ivwurie, Lawmaker representing Ethiope East Constituency, Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Felix Erhimedafe and the Commissioner of Police, Mustafa Muhammed, most of the perpetrators of the heinous crime have been apprehended, including those who aided the escape of the kidnap victim keeper, Omote Eboh, and his wife.
Speaking with Hon. Ivwurie, he said that all efforts to make good on his commitment to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators and the recovery and return of the remains of the kidnap victim, Hon. Onakpoma to his hometown in Urhuoka, Abraka to accord to him the decent burial he deserves has yielded result.
Hon Onakpoma’s remains are presently in Eku Baptist Government Hospital morgue while officials are preparing legal documents to release the body to the family.
The robbery/kidnap gang had carried out their robbery operation at Okorore near Eku on 31st March 2018 where they robbed over 15 people including a couple who were rushing their 8 year old seriously sick son to the hospital at about 5.30 a.m. on the said day. We learnt that despite the couple’s passionate appeal to the criminals to have mercy and compassion on them and let them go, the heartless gang refused and held them for over an hour until their son died.
The Police Anti Kidnapping squad had to step up operations against the gang and worked tirelessly with Hon Evance Ivwurie who provided the courageous leadership in search of answers to the many questions surrounding the kidnap of Onakpoma.
It will be recalled that Hon. Ivwurie had issued a stern warning to the kidnappers on the 12th of April, 2018, saying “…release and return him back to the family immediately otherwise the consequences you would face from this moment will be grievous and lethal.”
Ivwurie commiserated with the Onakpoma family and prayed that God through His Spirit comforts them in this trying times.
He commended the Governor of Delta State, the Commissioner of Police, Council Chairman, Faith Majemite and her Vice Chairman, Comr Christopher Izu, Hon.Sunday Onos Eromedoghene, Erhimedafe and many others for the roles they played that led to the apprehension of the kidnappers.
