DELSU Alumni Boosts Management’s Efforts With N2m, Offers Cash Gift To Best Graduating Student

The efforts of management of the Delta State University, Abraka, recently received a boost with the Institution’s Alumni Association donating a whopping sum of two million naira to complement the developmental strides of the present administration, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Victor F. Peretomode, just as the Association instituted an annual cash Award of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100, 000.00) for overall best graduating student.
Presenting the Cheque to the Vice-Chancellor, recently at the main campus of the university, the
President of the association, Dr. Ufuophu-Biri, noted that the association being the umbrella body of all those
who graduated from the university was proud, and will continue to be proud of the University.
Speaking further, he noted that Delta State University’s Alumni is not different in terms of the universal practice of Alumni giving back to its Alma mater , specially when the Institution has a working Vice-Chancellor in the like of Professor Peretomode.
He noted that the present administration, from assumption, won the admirations of the association through its strong resolve to make the institution one of the top ranking Nigeria universities.
“It is the practice all over the world for Alumni associations to plough back their resources to its alma mater, especially with a God-fearing and experienced management crew in the driving seat. There is no doubt that this administration has done exceedingly well in terms of infrastructural development, ICT compliance and Staff and students welfare,” he said.
Ufuophu-Biri, therefore, urged the Peretomode-led administration not to relent in its avowal to take the Institution to an enviable height.
In a related development, the association which also introduced an Annual cash award of N100, 000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) only for overall best graduating student, also made the first presentation of the award to the 2016/2017 best graduating student, Mr. Agbamu Emmanuel, of the Faculty of Pharmacy, who garnered a C. G.P.A of 4.82 to emerge the first beneficiary of the association.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peretomode, thanked the President and the entire members of the association for the confidence reposed in the present administration, describing the donation as very unprecedented in the history of the association.
