Guard Against Acts That Can Derail Democracy -Utuama

The immediate past Deputy Governor of Delta State, Professor Amos Agbe Utuama, has called on Nigerians to guide against acts that could possibly derail and jeopardize the nation’s democracy.
Professor Utuama, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who made this call in an interview with journalists, at Otu Jeremi,during the burial ceremony of his late brother, late Pa Utuama Andrew Oyiki and the father of Hon. Festus Utuama, former DESOPADEC commissioner, also spoke on some contemporary issues in the country.
Prof Utuama, said, democracy remained the best form of government and as such all must always work for it to attain the height and impact it should have on the society and life generally.
The former Deputy Governor, commended the judiciary for entrenching the rule of law and sued for the collaboration of the executive and other arms of government to allow the judiciary to perform its functions effectively.
He added that no effort should be spared in ensuring that bad eggs in the judiciary were flushed out and made to face the fill weight of laws.
Professor Utuama scored Governor Ifeanyi Okowa very high on the three years of his administration in the area of empowerment, infrastructural transformation despite paucity of funds and as well as poverty eradication from the State.
He enjoined electorates to vote for the people with track records of service and performance in the 2019 general election, pointing out that the era of giving power based on tribe, religion and political affiliation was over.
Meanwhile, his nephew Hon Festus Utuama, applauded Deltans who despite their tight schedules, took their time to attend the burial ceremony.
He gave kudos to Senator Ifeanyi-led administration for turning Delta State into a construction site in just three years in office, while enjoining all Deltans to rally round and give him more support for him to achieve more for the state.
Dignitaries including the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Deacon Barrister Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Civil Commissioners, Civil Servants, Hon Evelyn Oboro, House of Representative, representing Sapele, Okpe and Uvwie, and many others were at the burial ceremony.
