Alleged Gay, Partner Escape Lynching By Angry Mobs In Delta
A resident of Obiaruku in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. John Chawvuko Shagidi and his alleged gay partner, Emmanuel Onosode, who were caught in the act and almost lynched at Umutu, in the said council area over allegations of homosexual activities are said to be on the run.
The incident occurred on the 17th of March, 2018.
The suspects who were caught having an unholy romantic affair, took to their heels on sighting a group of angry mob brandishing dangerous weapons. It took the intervention of security operatives who fired some canisters of teargas to disperse the mob from snuffing life out of them.
According to police sources, the police division in the area has since declared Mr. Shagidi and Onosode wanted in connection with the said crime, calling on the general public to report to any division of the Nigerian police if they have any information that will lead to the arrest of the alleged gay couple.
In his reaction the Ukwuani Youth Chairman, Mr Chika Uwabuofu said there was no room for homosexuality in Ukwuani land and Nigeria in general.
It will be recalled that acts of homosexuality are criminal in Nigeria with prison sentence of 14 years.
The alleged gay partners will be brought to book when arrested and investigated said the police source.
It is on record that the said Shagidi has a history of homosexuality.
