UK Based Urhobo Indigene Tips Okowa For Second Term

–Says Ibori Will Tackle Ogboru In Delta Centra At The Guber Poll

An indigene of Ethiope East Local Government Area based in the United Kingdom (UK), Chief Bright Sodje, has said that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s first term was challenging for him and members of his administration, saying that the Governor has done pretty well considering what he was up against when he took over from his predecessor.
Speaking to Oasis Magazine (OM), during an online chat, he added: “The SMART agenda of the Okowa-led administration has brought about different projects and empowerment to several persons in all the three senatorial districts in the state, and was thus eligible for a second term.
He added: “His Excellency has done well in terms of creating jobs and providing training for the youths of Delta State. He needs more time and that is the reason why Deltans should vote for him for a second term to finish his SMART agenda.
According to him, Governor Okowa needs to consider the areas of security, community policing, promotion of Delta State to the international communities and sports if his second term ambition sails through.
He said: “Security in the state would give opportunities for international investors to come into the state that would eventually lead to job creation for Delta people.
“On community policing, the governor has to work with indigenes of the communities to secure their areas.”
He continued: “To Promote Delta to the international communities, Delta State Government should host forums to discuss the areas to invest in the state.
He also urged the government to consider getting the right people to support the Delta State Sport Commission and boost this sector.
Responding to the question of if Delta Central Senatorial district, where he (Isodje) hails from has benefitted enough from the present administration, he said: “Despite that Okowa did not get much votes from us, he still appointed sons and daughters of Delta central into his government. Imagine if Delta Central votes for him massively in the next election, we will get more appointments and I will be happy to be part of the new administration in 2019.”
Furthermore, he hinted that the group was already on ground planning to go into the communities to speak to those at the grassroots why they should vote for the Ifeanyi Okowa, adding that he will be in Delta in the next few weeks.
Speaking to Deltans about the forthcoming elections, he noted that: “It was agreed in the PDP political family that it is the turn of Delta North, so let us work together and return Governor Okowa for 2019.”
Reacting to the fact that Ogboru’s candidacy for the governorship seat is an Urhobo agenda, and a possible threat to Okowa’s second term ambition, said: Anybody can win election in any country in the world. Winning election is about planning and block voting. Governor Okowa has been in the game for the past 20 years, so he knows the game very well. To me, Delta central is the biggest challenge. With Chief Ibori back, things will change in favour of the governor. Delta North is 100% for the governor and in the South, he would get 90% of the votes. Overall it will be a win-win for Okowa until 2023.
On the forthcoming PDP primaries in Ethiope East Local Government Area for the State House of Assembly and the Delta Central Senatorial and House of Representatives elections, he said: “The primaries will be interesting in Delta Central like I said in my first interview with this medium. I am hoping my brother gets the House of Assembly ticket; I am rooting for Evelyn Oboro for Senate and Ben Igbakpa for House of Representatives.
He called on delegates for the primaries to vote for the right person who will bring development to their community, not because money has been shared.
