Delta Central Senatorial District: Oboro Clinches PDP Ticket, As Omo-Agege Wins APC Primaries

Hon. Evelyn Oboro has emerged the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after defeating Chief Ighoyota Amori during the party’s primaries to determine who represents the party during the Delta Central Senatorial election, come 2019.

While announcing the result of the delegates election, Barrister Nusa Amagbor, the Returning Officer who declared the result, disclosed that the total accredited votes were: 1088, total votes cast: 1008 and void votes as two.

He went on to declare Oboro the winner with 586 votes, as Chief Amori garnered 486 votes and Obule six votes.

Rumour had it that Obule earlier stepped down for Oboro, but the sighting of his agents at the venue put the rumour about his stepping down to dust.

Speaking to journalists, the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwor said:  ‘Let APC come and emulate us; you can see that the PDP primaries is very peaceful.”

On APC depending on their Federal might to win 2019 election, he said, there is no federal might, saying that the masses are the federal might.

Also, at the time of filing this report, results announced by the Returning Officer for the primaries of All Progressives Congress, APC, for Delta Central Senatorial District showed that Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege emerged victorious with a total of 2306 votes, as Otga Emerhor got no votes.

The election we gathered took place at the Police Camp in DSC, Udu Council area of the state.

In a related development, the battle royale which almost consumed members of the PDP in Delta North Senatorial District came to a climax as the Senatorial ticket contested for, was retained by the incumbent Senator, Peter Nwaoboshi.

In a keenly contested senatorial primary by the PDP aspirants from Delta North extraction, Senator Nwaoboshi defeated his opponents, Prince Ned Nwoko and Paul Osaji with 506 votes.

Prince Nwoko who came second in the contest, got 453 votes, while Paul Osaji got 216 votes.

Announcing the result of the primary held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Cenotaph, Asaba, the Returning Officer, Mrs. Uzo Nwandu declared that a total of 1,214 delegates were accredited for the exercise but only 1,194 delegates participated in the voting process, while 19 votes were voided.
