By Daniel Dafe
The House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Ika Federal Constituency, Delta State, Hon. Sebastine Okoh, has expressed displeasure over the manner in which the election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in his constituency, adding that it was marred by several irregularities amidst a lack of proper provision of security during the polls in the area.
Hon. Okoh, who spoke with Oasis Magazine (OM), during a phone conversation, alleged that the few security men on ground where bought over by the Peoples Democratic Party.
“My supporters were intimidated, while our agents were chased away from their units,” he added.
According to him, some election observers tried to intervene to free some of his supporters who were arrested by the police without any cogent reason.
He continued: “In Abavo, some observers said some PDP members were guiding the voters on who to vote for,” saying that his party members were chased out of the line by PDP members.
Furthermore, he said that security and thugs were used to intimidate members of his party, adding that the PDP rigged till 12 midnight, while some of the results were not brought in till 4 a.m. this morning.
He described the elections “as far from free, fair and marred with irregularities.”
He called on INEC to provide adequate security during the forthcoming guber and State House of Assembly polls, as he urged the electoral umpire to do a a proper investigation because most of their staff have been compromised.
Okoh called on his supporters to be calm, saying that he was still hopeful of victory at the polls that held yesterday.
