IPOB Members Invade Police Station In Delta

Some members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group in their large numbers, armed with guns, dagger knives, fuel and other dangerous weapons have invaded and attacked the ‘A’ Division Police Station, Asaba.

In a press release, Delta Police Command said that “IPOB in their desperate bid to raze down the station attacked and opened fire at the policemen for resisting them.”

The said policemen led by the DPO promptly replied fire, forcing the hoodlums to beat a retreat.

During the melee, three members of the group, Nwafor Ifeanyi, Arinze Orji, and Ekene Otakpo were arrested.

They are said to have sustained gun injury and are presently receiving treatment at FMC, Asaba.

Items recovered from the arrested suspects include one pump action gun with four hire cartridges and two expended cartridges, assorted suspected criminal charms, four dagger knives, four IPOB flags, placards bearing ‘referendum’, ‘Asaba get ready for your referendum today’ and ten litres of petrol.

During preliminary investigation, the suspects admitted to being members of IPOB.

They have been handed over to the State CIID further for investigation.
