Urhobo Rebirth Congratulates Omo-Agege, Calls For Stronger Unity Among Urhobos

The  Urhobo Rebirth Congress,  an umbrella body of  eminent sons and daughters of Urhobo land whose sole aim is the unity of the entire Urhobo land has felicitated with their own, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, on his election and subsequent inauguration as the Deputy Senate President, just as they called for a stronger tie and unity of all Urhobos worldwide.

The President of the group, Comrade Stephen Ogheneochuko who addressed journalists at Otor-Udu, in Udu Local Government Area of Delta state, appreciated the efforts of all those who stood for the victory of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to ensure the success of their son and brother even as they prayed that victory would not depart their homes for their support for the Urhobo nation.

Comrade Ogheneochuko while also congratulating President Muhammadu Buhari, the Senate President on their victory at the polls, including all Senators and House of representative members, also congratulated the Delta House of Assembly members for the landslide victory in their respective elections, appealing for all to join hands with the senator to succeed in his quest at making Urhobo nation great again.

He stated that for Urhobo to be great again, there was need to work together to ensure the various communities come back on stream. 

“Urhobo must be great again, with our prayers and hard work; we must get there in Jesus name. Omo-Agege is a great man. With him in the saddle, Urhobo will be great again, Delta will be prosperous better than we have it now,” Comrade Ogheneochuko said.

The President of Urhobo Rebirth Congress advised Senator Omo-Agege to work assiduously with all the lawmakers at the national assembly and those at the state levels in the south south and Delta State in particular with particular reference  on the lawmakers of the Urhobo extractions irrespective of party affiliations to ensure good governance in  the country.

He appealed to Senator Omo-Agege to do his best to attract better things to his people spread across the entire communities in the eight local government areas occupied by the Urhobo speaking tribes of Delta State.

“He should alleviate the plights of all his people through job placements and empowerment to the youths, women and the men who are still willing and capable to work.  These are the people in the grassroots and I am dealing with the grassroots. As Urhobo Rebirth Congress, we deal with the grassroots, we want the entire Urhobo nation to grow, hence we came out with this body.

“We want our language to come back and be spoken everywhere in the land so that it does not go into extinction one day. When you see your elder brother, you go down on your kneels like you saw Omo-Agege did while greeting Mr. President. That is how the Urhobos Greet their elders using the language “migwor” connoting I am on my kneels, while the elderly person will respond by saying “vrendo”, meaning you should get up I appreciate you. This is the culture of any respectful Urhobo person of both gender,” he said.
