Don’t Deny Your Children’s Educational Needs For Frivolous Materials, Education Expert Admonishes Parents
By Ogude Samuel
The Administrator, St. Philomena Schools, Effurun, in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, Mrs. Adams Gbame Sandra, has admonished parents not to sacrifice their children’s educational needs such as standard text books, school uniforms, sandals, school fees among others for frivolous spending on things in order not to deprive their children of a bright future.
Mrs. Sandra stated this at the school’s 13th Annual Graduation and Prize Giving Day Ceremony which was held in the school premises recently.
She said, parents should know that the quality of education their children acquire has a lot to do with the kind of life they will live in future, adding that education is the bed rock of worthy life in the society.
She added: “You parents should know that the quality of education your children acquire, determines to a large extent the quality of life they will live in future.”
While thanking many of the parents for their roles in ensuring that their children are well taken care of educationally, she urged those (parents) who are yet to live up to expectation to do so, saying the school will continue to play their part in making sure the children acquire the needed basic skills and requisite knowledge to better their life.
The education expert charged the pupils/students to be focused on their studies as they move from one level of class to the other in order for them not only to justify their parents’ huge financial investment on them (children) but make them live a life worthy of emulation.
She continued:” My children, you are the future Governors, Senators, and to achieve this, you need to be serious with your studies.”
The Administrator also thanked the teachers for their efforts in ensuring that the children are brought up academically, morally among others, and urged them to continue with the good work in bringing up these children.
The programme which featured cultural dances, debate, mock court session among others, was climaxed with the presentation of prizes for pupils/students and teachers and presentation of certificates to pupils and students, amidst cheers.
