Aniagwu Commends Otuaro For Hosting Governor Okowa, Others To An End Of Year Party
By John Onos
The Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, has applauded the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Deacon Barr Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, for hosting his boss, the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Members of the Delta State House of Assembly, commissioners and other top government functionaries to an end of year party.
Mr Aniagwu who fielded questions from journalists at the lounge of the Deputy Governor soon after a successful end of year party organised by the Deputy Governor, said this is a landmark event that will go down in the annals of history in the state.
The Commissioner, while commending the Governor and others for gracing the event, thanked God for the opportunity given to him to serve as a Commissioner in the state, just as he commended the Governor for the opportunity to serve.
He said: “I believe there are more persons capable than I am to serve, but since I am privileged to have that opportunity to preside over the Ministry of Information, the best I could do is to try as much as possible to justify the confidence reposed in me by his Excellency.”
“We are trying as much as possible to ensure, first of all to address the issue of infrastructure, and in 2020, we will take a look at human capital development, and that we are going to do by ensuring that our people get trained and retrained.
“But one thing I am going to tell you is that we are not going to be scared to break the egg to make the homlet.
“A good number of you are our friends. If you want us to retain that friendship, all you need to do is to work. Because if you fail to work, we will not hesitate to move people from one place to the other for the purpose of realising the Stronger Delta agenda of His Excellency.”
“There are a number of persons who just think that it is about friendship, and refusing to do their work. We will not be scared to break the egg to make the homlet. What is more important is that we have got a state that we have to stay. For us to be able to achieve success, all have to be very productive. Once you are very productive in doing my work, I will assist you to climb to the next level. But if you choose not to be productive, we will not hesitate to do the right thing. So, if you hear that we are moving people from one place to the other, I can assure you, no malice, I do not have anything against anybody, once you work, we will not only recognise you, we will try as much as possible given the privilege we have to assist you to ascend to your zenith,” he stated.
The Commissioner added: “But if you choose to remain in your old ways and not to work, we will do the needful. And that needful is to ensure that our different media houses in the state is moving forward. I am very pleased with the Acting GM Warri. I am pleased with the GM of Pointer. I have asked the GM Asaba to buckle up, so that we can afford to take it to the next level. I am happy she is waking up, but I want to believe that in every of her staff, she will realise that she has got the leadership. Anybody who chooses not to respect the leaders in the media houses, the Pointer, DBS Warri and DBS Asaba, we will not hesitate to do the needful. Whether you are my friend or not, the most important thing is that you have got a job to do and we will do that. That I can assure you.”
