Egwunyenga, A Man Of Vision, Says Abraka Monarch
By Our Reporters
The Ovie of Oruarivie-Abraka Kingdom, HRM Akpomeyoma Majoroh, has described the new Vice-Chancellor of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Prof. Andy Egwunyenga, as a man of vision.
The monarch, who said this in an interview in Abraka, noted that his antecedents as a former Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of the university and body language since he came on board says it all.
He said that the speech the VC made during a visit to the kingdom last week, gave him insight to his capacity to transform the university.
The monarch said: “When a man of vision takes the mantle of leadership at any level, you will know. Last week, the new VC and his team visited my kingdom during a familiarization visit and the statements he made about his vision for the university and readiness to improve the institution’s relationship with the host community says it all.
“His emergence is a breath of fresh air and we are ready to partner with him to develop the university better than it is. His predecessor shut the university against us but we are confident that he (Egwunyenga) will not.”
While urging staff, students and his subjects to cooperate with the new vice-chancellor, the monarch warned those he described as ‘sycophants’ to steer clear of Egwunyenga and allow him to govern the university well.
