JUST IN: DELSU Matriculates 8,598 Students

Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, on Saturday, matriculated 8,598 students offered admission to various departments of the institution.
Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Samuel Asagba disclosed this. while delivering his address during the matriculation ceremony in Abraka.
Giving the breakdown, he said the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Clinical Sciences and Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences got 486, 851, 123 and 1,490 new students respectively.
He added that the faculties of Engineering, Education, Law, Management Sciences and Pharmacy got 601, 999, 143, 933 and 122 students respectively.
Continuing, he said the Faculty of Science got a total of 1918, while the Social Sciences got 573, Dentistry, 12, and Faculty of Communication and Media Studies 347 new intakes.
He also hinted that under the professional and specialized programme, 123, 118, 122, 601 and 143 candidates were admitted into Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Science, Pharmacy, Engineering and Law respectively.
Continuing, he described the ritual ceremony as a universal academic tradition and a requirement in higher institutions.
The matriculants later took the matriculation oath.
