Umutu Community Proscribes Youth Body
The activities of the Umutu Youth Congress, UYC, in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, led by Mr. James Uduogwu, has been proscribed for what the leadership termed insubordination by the body, which had led to a breakdown of law and order in the community.
The Umutu Development Union, UDU, in a communique after consulting with the traditional ruler, His Royal Highness, Sunday Ossai Enweliku, the Okpala Uku of Umutu, on Saturday, March 14, 2020, said the action was taking to avoid continuous breach of peace which has for some time now been perpetuated against the community by the leadership.
In making the pronouncement, the traditional ruler stated that the activities of the youth executive has been characterized by gross insult, assault, and insubordination to the constituted authourities of the community, as numerous efforts made to bring peace had continuously been thwarted by the UYC executive members.
They described the existence of the youth body led by Mr. James Uduogwu as harmful, troublesome, characterized with insubordination, insurgency and is inimical to the development of the community, which if not checked will deteriorate to further violence that could lead to loss of lives and property.
“The existence of this youth body led by Uduogwu James, is harmful, troublesome, characterized with insubordination, insurgency and is inimical to the development of Umutu Community,” UDU added.
According to the leadership, the proscription was done according the constitution of the Umutu Development Union, UDU, which has the vested power to oversee the affairs of the UYC, and was subsequently backed by order of the Traditional Ruler, His Royal Highness, Sunday Ossai Enweliku, Okpala-Uku of Umutu.
The public was therefore advised not to carry out any transaction with the proscribed youth leadership, as relevant authorities had been informed of the decision.
The proscription order was signed by the His Royal Majesty, Sunday Ossai Enweliku, Spokesman of the community, Chief Pius Egwuenu, and the Onochieze of Umutu, Chief Frank Ossai.
