Confusion Hits Obaseki’s Camp As Chief Of Staff Tenders Resignation

The Chief of Staff to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Taiwo Akerele, has tendered his resignation to the Edo State Government, a move that has sent panic to Obaseki’s camp.
Akerele said his resignation was based on principles, but adds that he still solidly supports the governor’s agenda and his reelection bid.
The said letter dated: April 25, 2020, read: “My decision to exit the government is based on administrative and governance grounds. I am solidly with His Excellency, Mr Godwin Obaseki, in his quest to transform Edo State. His mission and vision resonates with me,” he wrote.
Recall that prior to his appointment in 2016, Akerele had served as SSA on Economic Planning and Policy in the previous administration led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
The governor’s office is yet to formally comment on his resignation.
