COVID-19 Lockdown: Delta State University Reopens To Staff

Following the partial relaxation of the sit-at-home order by the Delta State Government in its fight against the spread of the Coronavirus disease, certain categories of staff in Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, today, April, 30, 2020, resumed work.

Recall that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in a state broadcast recently, directed public service workers on Grade Level 12 and above to resume work effective today.

The university management through an official bulletin by the Information and Public Relations Division of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office made available to this medium, clarified that those expected to return to work include all non-teaching staff on CONUSS II, as well as academic staff from Lecturer 1 and above.

Others are staff that perform essential duties namely; staff in Principal Officers’ offices, Health Services, Security and Works and Services.

Furthermore, the management advised all staff resuming for duty to adhere strictly to the provisions on the pamphlet of ‘DELSU COVID-19 Virus’ awareness prevention protocol, adding that “it is also now mandatory for staff to wear their face masks whenever they are outside their homes as directed by the State Government.”
