COVID-19: Mamuzo’s Result Arrived Asaba Yesterday, She Tested Positive— Govt Official

-Says She Will Get Her Result Soon

–I Don’t Have The Disease, Patient Insists

An official of the Delta State Government has said that Omamuzo Ijala will get her Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) test result soon, saying that she tested positive for the disease and the result arrived Asaba, the state capital yesterday.

The said official (under conditions of anonymity) who spoke to us via an online chat said the Okowa-led administration will not just keep her there in isolation for no reason.

This was in response to a leaked second audio recorded message by Omamuzo where she insisted that she does not have the disease and is yet to get her result.

His words: “She will get to see it soon. Everyone knows our testing Centre is at Irrua. When the result comes out they call us on phone. It is when we take another sample down for testing that they collect the result.

“So as at when she was demanding for the result it was not handy then. It is not in the interest of anyone to keep her there. Do you know how much it is costing the state government to treat her? Let her just calm down and take her treatment quietly.”

According to him, “NCDC has since confirmed it as well,” adding that “the result has arrived Asaba yesterday and is with the state epidemiologist.”  

“Possibly, she will get to see it today,” he opined.

Attempts to speak with the Commissioner of Health in the state, Dr. Mondi Ononye proved abortive, as he did not pick calls put to his mobile phone number or respond to text messages.

Meanwhile, the second voice recorded message from Omamuzor is trending on social media.

In the discussion which occurred with a friend, she insisted that she does not have the disease, adding that her experience has shown that the whole thing about COVID-19 is a scam.

She said: “I use to tell my mum that all this Coronavirus issue na scam. They want to use it to enrich themselves. I don’t have the disease.

“I am alone in one ward with ten beds. The food they gave to me in the morning wasn’t nice at all so I refused to eat it. The food is even here with me. If my android phone was here I would have filmed everything so it doesn’t look as if I am talking stories.”

Omamuzo disclosed that she also decided not to take the drugs she was given by the hospital management.

The advice from the caller was for her to also reject the food and water from the hospital and only accept food from her family members.

The caller in the voice recorded message also promised to contact her family to help her with food and water supplies.

Reacting to the developments, the President of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Comrade Efemena Umukoro, has said that the needful should be done, urging those in charge of the matter to allow their conscience guide their actions.

He said: “We are monitoring what is going on and at the right time we will speak out.”
