Lockdown: Delta Finance Commissioner, Tilije Donates Over N8M To Ukwuani Indigenes, Elders

Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, has been commended for his continued exemplary leadership through the several people-oriented programmes and policies , especially for his resilient approach towards curtailing spread of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
The State Commissioner for Finance, Chief (Sir) Fidelis Tilije stated this in his.country home Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area.
Sir Tilije said that in demonstration of his sincerity to the plights and welfare of his people of Ukwuani Local Government Area whom he noted have been supportive of the Okowa administration since inception donated over eight million naira to the good people of Ukwuani Local Government as part of his contributions to cushion the economic effects of COVID-19 in the area.
While disclosing that he had single-handedly distributed the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000 ) to each ward in Ukwuani , and an additional One Million , Five Hundred Thousand Naira to other categories of people, Sir Tilije also maintained that similar gesture was extended to the Heads of Council of Elders, others known as ‘Nde Okwa’ with an undisclosed sum of money.
Sir Tilije, informed the people that the lockdown declared by the Governor was not intended to punish Deltans and residents in the state but a deliberate approach designed to reduce the spread of the disease.
The Delta Finance Commissioner ,who however, advised the people of Ukwuani Local Government Area to always maintain social distancing and wash their hands properly with alcohol based sanitizers, added that the disease was no respecter of anybody irrespective of social status.
Sir Tilije enjoined the people to make judicious use of the monetary palliatives which he donated to them just as he told them that the Delta State Government had started the distribution of good palliatives and called on the people to maintain their peaceful disposition at all times.
In their remarks, some beneficiaries including elders from some of the wards lauded Sir Tilije for the initiative, saying that the money would go a long way towards cushioning the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown in the area even as they called on other political leaders in the area to emulate the Finance Commissioner
