Sit-At-Home Directive: Umuebu Appeals To Govt. For Food, Financial Assistance

The people of Umuebu, Ukwuani Local Government Area, have appealed to Delta State Government to come to the aid of the community and the entire people of the state with food items, protective materials and cash to enable them mitigate the economic hardship occasioned by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking in a telephone chat with newsmen, some indigenes of the community including Dr. Friday Oliseyenum, popularly known as ‘Comrade Osusu’, Mr. Kingsley Idise , Hon. Victoria Emuji and Chief Prince Onyenwosa, described the disease as deadly and called on all hands to be on deck towards curtailing it.
Dr. Oliseyenum and Mr. Kingsley Idise particularly commended the state government for the consistent enlightenment campaigns on measures to adopt so as to avert the possibility of the outbreak of the disease in the state just as they called for more intensified approach to ensure that Deltans would not contend with the adverse effects so much.
Continuing, Hon. Victoria Emuji and Chief Prince Onyenwosa maintained that the 14-day lockdown would be unbearable if no help of food provision was given to Deltans, adding , however, that good spirited individuals should rescue the people especially the economically vulnerable individuals even as the duo enjoined other representatives in government to emulate the gesture of the member representing Ndokwa East Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi who they said provided food items and doled out cash donations worth 50 million naira for his constituents.
While saying that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was proactive enough to secure the lives of Deltans and residents in the state through the holistic approach taken so far with a view to ensuring the state does not record outbreak of the pandemic, Hon. Emuji called for more collaborative efforts so as to defeat the virus.
On her part, a retired Head teacher at Umutu, also in Ukwuani Local Government Area, Lady Bridget Odigili, who spoke through a telephone interview, decried the hazardous effects of COVID-19 pandemic, as she admonished the people in the area to always adhere to the preventive measures severally advised by government such as regular hand washing with soap and alcohol based sanitizer, avoid hand shaking and ensure social distancing as well as keep their surrounding clean.
