Total Shutdown Begins Today In Kwara
An indefinite shut down of Kwara State will begin 6 pm effective from today, the Kwara State Government has announced.
The state Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, who is chairman of the State Technical Committee on COVID-19, while addressing journalists, said all markets, shops and other businesses are to be shut till further notice.
He said there would be no movement of both private and commercial vehicles across the state, that banks and food items shops would only be allowed to open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm.
The deputy governor warned against the stigmatisation of persons suspected to have been infected with COVID-9 in the state, saying the government would prosecute anyone caught in the act.
He appealed to the families of those who had contact with the COVID-19 index case in the state to present themselves for a test. The deputy governor said the condition of the 75 persons at the state isolation center were stable and receiving adequate attention.
