BREAKING: Court Slams N10m Against DSS Over Illegal Detention Of Man Who Purchased SIM Card Previously Used By Buhari’s Daughter

A Federal High Court in Asaba, Delta State, on Thursday slammed the sum of N10m against Nigeria’s secret police, Department of State Services, for illegally detaining Anthony Okolie for 10 weeks, Sahara Reporters, an online news platform has said has said.
Okolie was arrested by the DSS for lawfully purchasing a SIM card previously used by President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter, Hanan.
It was earlier reported that Okolie took the agency and MTN Nigeria to court over the violation of his fundamental human rights.
National President of Revolutionary Lawyer’s Forum, Mr Tope Akinyode, who instituted the case on behalf of the applicant, stated that the lawsuit was filed to serve as exemplary caution against flagrant abuse of power by law enforcement agencies and to sound a note of warning on public officers to ensure their relations do not abuse power arbitrarily.
