Police Arrest Pastor Over Alleged Gun Running In Delta

Poised to reduce crime to the barerest minimum in the state, the Delta State Police command have arrested one Pastor Fedelix Nwansa of Christ Holy Church for allegedly involving in gun running.
The clergy (Fidelix Nwansa) who was pretending to provide security for churches and hotels with vigilante group from Anambra State in Okwe in Asaba, Delta State capital was arrested in an uncompleted building within church premises and six riffles were recovered from him in the process.
Confirming the arrest in a telephone chat with our correspondennt today Thursday in Warri, Delta State, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa said the suspect was arrested with the aid of his men two days ago in a mop up exercise.
The Police boss said some people from across the Niger have started to bring into Delta State criminals in the name of providing security to either churches or hotels forgetting the fact that it is illegal to do that.
He said it is unlawful to bring in security from neighboring states to Delta under whatever guise.
CP lnuwa said:”These people carry sophisticated firearms and there is every indication that once they bring these people, they also engaged in criminality
He added that the police have recovered six pump actions from the so-called vigilante group.
CP Inuwa also said that the police also arrested one Freeman who is the head of the vigilante and he is from Anambra State.
He said: “You can imagine the kind of persons the cleric has brought into Delta State for a security job.”
The Police boss (Inuwa) said the Pastor (suspect) has confessed to the crime, adding that investigation carried out so far has revealed that the recovered firearms belong to the Anambra vigilante group.
