COVID-19: Nigeria Records 571 New Cases, Total Now 32,558 With Deaths At 740

Nigeria on Sunday, July 12, recorded 571 new cases of COVID-19 bringing total infections reported in the country to 32,558, Legit news reports.

The NCDC said the number of discharged persons now stands at 13,447.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in a tweet disclosed that the new cases of COVID-19 were reported in 20 states in the country as seen in the list below:

The NCDC said the number of discharged persons now stands at 13,447, while 740 deaths have thus far been reported from the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State government has announced the closure of a laboratory in Ikoyi, where alleged illegal COVID-19 tests were being carried out.

Legit.ng reported that this was disclosed in a thread of tweets on Saturday, July 11, by Gboyega Akosile, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwoolu.

He said the Lagos State Ministry of Health through Health Facility Monitoring And Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), sealed a private lab located on Banana Island, Ikoyi for carrying out COVID-19 tests without the required government approval.

He said the state ministry of health would continue to do its best to ensure that health facilities in the state adhere strictly to standards to guarantee the health and wellbeing of Lagosians.
