BREAKING: Tribunal Upholds Diri’s Guber Victory
The Bayelsa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed a petition filed by the candidate of the Alliance for Democracy, Owei Woniwei, challenging the victory of Governor Duoye Diri.
The three-man panel in a judgement delivered by Justice Owodunni, unanimously held that the petition is incompetent and lacks merit.
The panel said the petitioner failed to prove allegations of false declaration of age and fake National Youth Service Corps certificate against the deputy governor, Lawrence Ehrukjakpo.
Diri was declared the winner of the elections by the Supreme Court of Nigeria in a judgement delivered by Justice Mary Odili, a day to the inauguration of erstwhile governor-elect, David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress.
Lyon’s election was voided by the court over the certificate forgery leveled against his running mate, Senator Digi Eremienyo.
