Fasanmi’s Final Journey Begins With Church Service Today

A commendation service at the Cathedral of All Saints, Agoro, Osogbo, the Osun State capital will on Monday open the burial rites for frontline progressive and Afenifere leader, Pa Ayorinde Fasanmi.

In a programme of events titled: “His absence a silent grief, his life a beautiful memory” signed by Mrs. Yemisi Abosed Oguntade (Nee Fasanmi) for the family, today’s service holds by 11am.

Mrs Oguntade said the burial service will hold at the same time tomorrow at St. Johns Anglican Church, in Iye-Ekiti, his home town, where he will be buried.

Also on Sunday, Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi announced a 13-man committee for the Second Republic’s senator, who died at 94 on July 30.

He mandated the committee to liaise with the family and the Osun State government to ensure a befitting burial for the elder statesman.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS) Yinka Oyebode, the governor named Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Biodun Oyebanji as the chairman of the committee.

Other members are: Senator Bunmi Adetunmbi; Ibrahim Olanrewaju; Tope Ogunleye; Chief Folorunsho Olabode; Paul Omotosho; Femi Ajayi; Ayoola Owolabi; Muyiwa Olumilua; Mrs. Moji Fafure; Brig-Gen. Ebenezer Ogundana; Chief Alaba Abejide and Taju Adejumo.
