Delta North Progressive Assembly Lauds Okowa’s Giant Strides, Urges FG To Complete Second Niger Bridge In Record Time

A political pressure group in Delta North Senatorial District, known as the ‘Delta North Progressive Assembly’, has commended the giant strides of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State for building the capacity of Deltans, especially youths and effectively empowering them towards achieving self reliance among them in the state.
Arising from an enlarged meeting of members from the nine Local Government Areas in Delta North,the group said that the Anioma born Governor had performed overwhelmingly beyond expectations and called on the Federal Government to expedite action on the completion of the second Niger Bridge.
Speaking during the meeting, the National Leader of the group, Chief (Dr) Sylvanus Ebigwei, (MON) said that the objective of the political pressure group was the people of the Anioma extractions were given their pride of place and carried along in the scheme of things in governance at all times, beyond 2023 .
While urging governments at all levels to vehemently reject the proposed water bill, the group noted that it was not in the interest of the Nigerian masses.
The Delta North frontline political pressure group, however, urged the Federal Government to immediately work out modalities to pay compensation to various individuals in Oshimili North, Oshimili South and Aniocha South Local Government Areas, whose farmlands and houses were destroyed by the construction of the second Niger Bridge.
Chief (Dr) Ebigwei stated that there was strong need for members of the group to embark on aggressive and robust sensitization of their people in their various Local Government Areas on the existence of the group and it’s agenda.
In their separate remarks, the National Chairman of the group, Dr. Chris Iyama and the National vice Chairman, Prof. John Odili said that all hands must be on deck to ensure that the laudable initiative of the group were actualised, even as the duo pledged to the confidence reposed in them by ensuring more commitments to the success of the group.
In an interview with newsmen, an Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor on Job Creation, Hon. Leo Esegbue , who said that the group was all about strengthening the existing unity of Delta North, disclosed that Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration was people oriented.
Hon. Esegbue, who used the occasion to urge beneficiaries of the several empowerment programmes of the state government to maximize the benefits of the programmes by leveraging on them to add value to their lives at all times, reiterated that the initiative was intended to tackle poverty, unemployment and youth restiveness in the state.
It could be recalled that the group resolved to have yearly programme in December.
In attendance were the former Commissioner for Land’s, Mr. Dan Okenyi (National Coordinator), Dr. Chris Iyama (National Chairman), Prof.John Odili (National vice Chairman), Mr. P C Nkemchor(State Chairman) , Hon. Leo Esegbue (Executive Assistant to the Governor on Job Creation) ,Mr. Emmanuel Ebube and Mrs Henrietta Ebube among others.
