DTSG Kicks Off Enumeration Of Landed Property Across State
By Dorothy Ganrenyei
In a bid to create a database of all lands and property, the Delta State Government has begun enumeration of lands and properties in the state capital territory.
In an exercise monitored in Asaba where it kicked off, enumerators were seen registering and capturing lands and physical structures along Okpanam Road, DBS Road, Summit Road, Amb. Ralph Uwuchie Street, and London Nwegbe Street, among others.
The State Supervisor and Director of Mapping and Geo-Formatics in the Ministry of Lands and Surveys, Mr Jibunor Afamefune, in an interview, explained that the enumeration exercise was aimed at obtaining correct information of all lands and property in the urban towns across the state for planning and development purposes.
He stated that some of the information required from owners of lands and property would include among others; name, location, type of property and the use it is put into, describing the project as a world bank project.

“it is a world bank project, as it is going on here, it is going on in Taraba, Abuja and other states in the country. The essence is for us to get proper information of owners of properties and the uses they are put into, either residential or commercial. The general summary is for planning and international agencies are interested in the project since it will help government better serve the people,” he said.
The state supervisor projected a 50% minimum coverage of enumerated lands and property at the end of the exercise across the state.
While appealing to owners of lands and property to cooperate with the enumerators for their own benefit and that of the state, he emphasized that steps were being taken for increased sensitization of the populace.
Meanwhile, enumerators had earlier participated in a data capturing, as well as training session prior to the field exercise.
