Give Niger Delta To Foreign Firms To Develop, Asagba Tells FG
By Ambrose Ologide
Following the state of under development in the Niger Delta region allegedly caused by corrupt Niger Detans, a former secretary of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Chief Peter Asagba has called on the Federal Government to give the blue print of Niger Delta region to standard foreign firms to develop.
Asagba, an Okpe chief, made the call in an interaction with our correspondent while commenting on the ongoing probe in Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) at his residence in Ekpan, Uvwie Local Government Area last Monday, September 7, 2020.
“At times, when I look at Abuja, I would ask, if corruption was on vacation, when Abuja was built. It was General Ibrahim Banbagida that gave the blue print of Abuja to Julius Berger to develop.
“If the blue print of Niger Delta is given to a standard foreign firms to develop, we shall see our desired level of development in the Niger Delta Region in the next three years,” he stated.
Asagba who is the traditional Prime Minister of Amukpe District in Okpe Kingdom had earlier berated Niger Deltans indicted in the ongoing probe of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

“If it were to be names from other regions of the country then, we would have said that it was something else.
“It is indeed shameful and unfortunate that we are the ones undoing ourselves ”
He also took a swipe at youths of Niger Delta Region who defend corrupt leaders in the area as he said that the massive looting in development agency would adversely affect generations yet unborn.
“The NDDC and other interventionist agencies were established for the development of Niger Delta Region, yet there is nothing to show for their establishment,” Asagba stated.
