DELSU: Okowa’s Intervention Influences Downward Review Of COVID-19 Levy

Following the intervention of the Executive Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the management of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has reviewed the Five Thousand Naira (5, 000) COVID-19 levy to Four Thousand Naira (4,000).

This was contained in an official bulletin issued by the Information and Public Relations Division of the Vice Chancellor’s Office on Tuesday, 13th October, 2020.

Recall that the university administration asked undergraduate students to pay 5,000 and postgraduate students to pay 10,000, saying that the fund raised will be used to upgrade health facilities on the campus to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

However, the postgraduate students are still to pay the stipulated amount of ten thousand naira (10,000).

According to the bulletin, “This gesture should be seen as a positive disposition of the present University administration to sustain the cordial relationship that exists between the University Management and the students.”

Meanwhile, all students are advised to go about their academic activities and also ensure that they comply with all the safety measures put in place by the University, adding that “the Bursary Department of the University would work out a procedure for the refund of one thousand naira (1,000) to students who had already complied with the payment of the earlier sum of Five Thousand Naira (5,000).
