JUST IN: Super Eagles Players Get COVID-19 Test Results Hours Before Friendly With Tunisia

Super Eagles of Nigeria will file-out against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia on Tuesday night, October 13 at the prestigious Jacques Lemans Hotel Die Zeit in St. Veit, Austria.

All players have returned negative coronavirus results barely four days after Gernot Rohr’s side lost 1-0 to African champions Algeria at the same venue.

Nigeria played the game against Algeria without regular players including Oghenekaro Etebo, Wilfred Ndidi and Joe Aribo and it showed.

The Desert Foxed looked the better side in all departments with many of the Nigerian stars struggling.

The only goal of the game came in the 6th minute after Ramy Bensebaini pounced on a rebound off a header from a corner kick to slot home. 1-0 Algeria.

Recall that tests were carried out on the entire team on Monday, October 12, the results show all players are coronavirus free and they are all good to go against Tunisia.

The friendlies are arranged is in preparation for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone in November.

Nigeria have not played any competitive international match since their 4-2 home win against Lesotho in November 2019 and Gernot Rohr’s side, having won their first two games in Group L, lead the group with six points.

Due to the pandemic, AFCON 2021 has been postponed until 2022 and following earlier suspension of international football activities, Nigeria will return to competitive next month action as the Nations Cup qualifying series continue.

The Super Eagles are expected to bounce back from their narrow loss to Algeria and give Nigerians a good game against North Africans Tunisia.

Saka was recently called to the England national team ahead of their coming games this month in which the Arsenal forward expressed happiness to the call.

Many Nigerian football fans wanted Bukayo Saka to play for the Super Eagles, but the 19-year-old instead chose the Three Lions.

Saka will look forward to playing for England in their games against Wales, Belgium and Denmark.
