The Ovie of Uvwie, HRM Dr Emmanuel Sideso (JP) OON, Abe 1, has reiterated his appeal for the establishment of a Police Area Command in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

The traditional ruler made the appeal during the presentation of a gift of 3.5 acres of land by the Ogbe Family of Etche R’ Erovie (traditional administrative unit) in Uvwie Kingdom in anticipation of the establishment of a Police Area Command office and an industrial court in Uvwie Local Government Area at the permanent palace of the Ovie, Effurun on Monday, September 5,2020.

While justifying his appeal for the establishment of a police area command office in Uvwie, he noted that the local government area had four police divisional headquarters – Ekpan, Enerhen, Ugberikoko and Ebrumede, a host to multinational companies and federal establishments and also densely populated.

The traditional ruler alleged that Effurun, the headquarters of the local government, was the only local government headquarters in Nigeria that does not have a police divisional headquarters.

He expressed disappointment over the exclusion of Uvwie Local Government Area from the establishment of police area commands across the country recently inspite of his appeal on the issue five years ago.
