Delta Communication Workshop: 150 Participants Registered – EAC Latimore
A total of 150 participants comprising practising journalists, media aides to the governor, government and independent social media influencers/bloggers as well as PDP social media team in the three senatorial districts in Delta State, have been registered for the 2nd edition of Delta State Strategic Communication Workshop.
Executive Assistant on Communications to the Governor of Delta State, Dr (Barrister) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, made the disclosure during a public affairs programme aired live on DRTV Asaba, on Monday.
The special programme was to commemorate world broadcasting day.
He said this year’s strategic Communication workshop with the theme “Effective Communication and Crisis Management in governance: Challenges and Solutions, is specially designed to enhance the potentials and skills of participants, adding that an overview of media laws and ethical issues in journalism will be adequately dealt with.
Okowa’s EAC assured that at the end of the three days workshop, participants would have acquired substantial communication skills that will enable them excel in the discharge of assigned official responsibilities, and as bloggers/social media influencers.

Oghenesivbe disclosed that two professors and one associate professor of Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Lagos, Benson Idahosa University and Delta State University, shall take participants through three major topics subdivided into modules 1, 2 and 3, as well as group tasks, presentations, question and answer sessions.
“Professor Raph Akinfeleye, former Head of Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos, Prof Godwin Oboh, Head of Department of Mass Communication, Benson Idahosa University, and Dr Emmanuel Biri, Associate Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism, Delta State University, Abraka will do adequate justice to the topics.
“Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP National Publicity Secretary and Prince Mike Oputa, former General Manager of The Pointer Newspapers, will be sharing their experiences and also take participants through modules on media management, party politics and media networking, integrity, self esteem, etcetera,” he said.
The workshop is scheduled to hold from 8-10th December, 2020 at Orchid Hotel, DBS Road, Asaba.
