Abraka Constituency: Mulade Commends Agege, Calls On Ijaw Political Leaders To Be Proactive

A multifaceted award winning environmental activist, Amb.Chief Sheriff Mulade, chairman and founder of the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) has commended Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege for ensuring the restoration of Abraka constituency that has been approved by the Nigerian Senate recently.

Chief Mulade while hailing the Deputy Senate president on his proactive steps, said Omo-Agege is doing well for his people and should be emulated by others who think well of their people.

The environmental activist had particularly called on his Ijaw Political leaders in Delta to be more proactive politically to restore and redeem the Ijaw ethnic nationality in Delta State politics.

Mulade who issued the statement in Abuja earlier today, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers had noted that the Ijaws in Delta State are confronted with series of issues, adding that the political actors must not sleep over these issues.

He continued that while the restoration of the Abraka constituency is laudable, he said the Ijaw politicians must play development politics by ensuring that they pursue the splitting of Burutu Local Government that is already having a federal constituency and two state constituencies into two local government councils in the state.

He however, expressed disappointment at the attitude of highly placed Ijaw political leaders on their docile nature during the DSIEC ward creation in Delta State, adding that the Ijaws are losing out in the process completely.

Mulade asserted that despite Burutu, there are other Ijaw Local Government Areas that are large enough to be splitted and deserves more wards.

He particularly urged them not to play politics with critical things that will move the Ijaw nation forward, maintaining that the Ijaw ethnic nationality is not moving forward but rather sinking political.
