Days After Three Persons Were Killed, Cult Clash Claims Another Life In Sapele

Suspected cult war in Sapele, Delta State,
has claimed the life of a young man at Reclamation road barely three days after three persons were killed at Shell road and Mission road part of the town.

The identity of the young man still unknown at press time is said to be from Edo State.

The death of the said Edo indigene has thrown many residents of the Reclamation road axis of Sapele into panic.

Residents said the shooting at Reclamation road was a replay of the past three days killings where victims were attacked and shot at.

This, we learnt is a continuation of the supremacy battle that has left the town in tears and blood.

Sources told Oasis Magazine that the Reclamation road killing last night was just like the Mission road and Shell road attack suspected to be the brain child of either Eiye or Aro Baga Cult groups who has been at war for weeks now over supremacy battle.

According to sources, the man killed at the Reclamation road axis was an Okada man, who had gone to drink at a beer parlour by Abu Junction before he was shot dead on Tuesday night.

Residents on Tuesday had expressed worries over the continuous silence of the leaders in the town over the senseless killing that has claimed at least 5 persons since last month, calling it a crisis that will consume all if not tackled now.

A senior police source at Sapele Area command, who confirmed the killing said the issue of tackling cultism was beyond lip service.

Adding that that part of the problem lies with residents of the town.

His words: “They know who is who in the cult, and they are not bothered; if you arrest now they will come and bail them, what do we do?”

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Onome Onowakpoyeya while confirming the issue said that the police was doing everything posible to uphold security.

“We have intensified surveillance and patrol in all of these areas and soon the culprits will be brought to book,” she added.
