JUST IN: US Electoral College Confirms Biden Victory

The United States Electoral College has confirmed Joe Biden as the winner of the US 2020 presidential election.
This is after electors in all 50 states met to cast their votes on Monday.
In the results declared by the Electoral College representatives, Democrat Biden secured over 270 votes to defeat US president, Donald Trump.
Earlier, Trump claimed, without evidence, that he was the real winner but failed in the court cases instituted.

Thousands of Trump supporters, including members of far-right groups, had protested in Washington and other parts of US claiming Trump won the election.
After the electoral college, only one big formality remains before Biden’s inauguration on January 20, when Congress, presided over by Vice President Mike Pence, opens up and counts the electoral votes on January 6.
