Buhari Approves New Polytechnics For Borno, Benue

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of two federal polytechnics in Borno and Benue states.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, on Thursday in Abuja during his annual ministerial press briefing.
He said: “For the 2021 fiscal year, presidential approval has been granted for two federal polytechnics to be established in Borno and Benue states respectively.
“Take-off date for theese institutions will be October 2021.”
PlatinumPost reports that in 2020 the Federal Government announced the establishment of six new polytechnics with one in each of the six geo-political zones.

The polytechnics were located in Daura, Katsina State for North West; Kaltungo, Gombe State for North-East; Shedam, Plateau State for North-Central; Ayede, Oyo State for South-West and other yet to be named locations in Enugu State – South-East and Cross Rivers State for South-South.
With the latest development, only about three states; Abia, Sokoto and Kano as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are yet to play host to a Federal Government’s owned polytechnic.
Recall that the Federal Government has also recently approved Federal University of Health Sciences(FUHS) Otukpo, Benue State while Daura, Katsina State, which attracted a polytechnic last year, also serves as host community for Transportation University being constructed by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
