CDHR National Vice President Bags ‘Award Of Excellence’

The National Vice President of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Comrade Kehinde Taiga, has bagged an ‘Award of Excellence.’

The award was presented to the rights activist on Saturday by the executive and members of CDHR, Abraka/Obiaruku Unit.

Speaking to Oasis Magazine (OM) exclusively, Comrade Taiga said the honour done him by CDHR will spur him to do more to surpass what he did in 2020 in fighting for the oppressed.

He urged the group to continue to stand firm to defend the oppressed, urging them not to be involved in anything contrary to the law as they go about fighting for the oppressed.

“We are the only hope of the common man,” he opined.

Responding to questions on the state of the group in the state, he said they were still resolving the issues bedeviling CDHR in the state.

To CDHR members in Delta, he urged them to work in one accord.

He said: “When I resumed as Delta State CDHR Chairman, there were just 21 members and CDHR was not known the way it is now. So, I brought CDHR to limelight in Delta State and Nigeria.”

According to him some persons are bent on destroying the group and taking power in Delta.

He tasked members to practice the concept of love and forgiveness so the group can enjoy progress.

“CDHR has been existing for 32 years and does not belong to any group or individual but to all members of the organization,” he averred.

Meanwhile, he called on Civil Society Organisations (CSO) in Nigeria to entrench democracy in their groups and not cabalcracy where things are done based on the decision of a select few and not in line with the group’s constitution.
