Demands For Child Adoption High In Delta, Says Child Rights Activist

A child rights activist and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nigerian Child Welfare Fund,
Joshua Omorere has said that the demands for child adoption are higher than the available children for adoption in Delta State.

This assertion was made during a chat with journalists in Warri on Monday.

Independent News reports that Omorere, whose non-governmental organisation’s goals enforces and protects the rights of children through legal means, among others, attributed the development to rise in medical cases and spiritual problems.

According to Omorere, “I am an insider, I can tell you authoritatively that the rate of child adoption is on the rise annually in Delta State. Currently, the number of persons that applied for adoption is more than the number of children available for adoption.”

Adding, “Reasons being that a lot of people have medical issues while some attributed their travails to spiritual problems, so they cannot have children.”
