Delta: Armed Bandits Attack UBA Bullion Van, Kill Police Inspector, Injure Two Officers, Cart Away Money

Heavily armed bandits on Tuesday ambushed a bullion van with special police escort attached to the United Bank of Africa UBA journeying from
Agbor to Asaba.

The incidence that occurred at Utulu/
Ubulu-Okiti along Benin– Asaba expressway, left three policemen injured during a gun duel with the criminals.

A statement signed by Ag. Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Police Command, DSP Edafe Bright, said the injured policemen were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Asaba, but Inspector Ogar Sunday was certified dead by the doctor on duty while the other two were treated and discharged.

Adding that two of the bandits were fatally injured but were taken away by their gang members.

According to the statement, “unnspecified amount of money was reportedly carted away.”

The police said “the incident is under investigation to unravel those behind the dastardly act and to ascertain the amount that was carted away.”

Meanwhile, manhunt for the bandits
is ongoing to bring them to justice.
